Purpose in Pain is a faith-rooted grief-support ministry operated by Purpose in Pain Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13929065), founded by Atinuke Aderemi (“we”, “us”). Purpose in Pain Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us about anything in this policy through the contact form on this website.

We only collect what we need to support you:

• Messages you send us — your name, email address, and anything you write in the contact form or in an enquiry or registration form.
• Registration details — when you register for Cherish or enquire about Pelumi through our forms, the details you provide there (such as your name, email, and what you choose to share about your loss).
• Booking and payment records — which sessions or groups you have booked and paid for. Payments are handled by Stripe on their secure pages; we never see or store your card details.
• Newsletter sign-up — your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
• Technical information — our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security, and we use Vercel Analytics, a cookie-free service that shows us anonymised page views, device type, and approximate location so we can understand how the site is used.

Because of the nature of grief support, what you choose to share with us may include sensitive information about your health, wellbeing, family, or faith. We treat everything you share in confidence, use it only to support you, and rely on your explicit consent to hold it. You may withdraw that consent at any time.

• To reply to your messages and arrange your free connection call (legitimate interests, and taking steps at your request before entering a contract).
• To provide the support you have booked — scheduling sessions, sending Zoom links, and administering your place in a group (performance of a contract).
• To take payment and keep the financial records we are required to keep (contract and legal obligation).
• To send you the newsletter, only if you subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email from us or using the contact form (consent).
• To keep the website and our services safe and secure (legitimate interests).

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Purpose in Pain. They process your information only to provide their service to us:

• Vercel — hosts this website and provides our cookie-free visitor statistics.
• Stripe — processes payments on their own secure checkout pages.
• Resend — delivers our notification and contact emails.
• Upstash — securely stores your messages to us, newsletter sign-ups, booking availability, and site settings.
• Zoom — hosts our online sessions.

Some providers also act as independent controllers for parts of what they do — for example, Stripe processes payment data under its own privacy policy for fraud prevention.

Some of these providers are based outside the UK (for example, in the United States). Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

• Enquiries and correspondence — up to 2 years after our last contact, then deleted.
• Registration details and anything you share for your support — for the duration of your journey and up to 2 years after it ends, then deleted. If you withdraw consent, we delete this information promptly unless a specific record must be kept by law.
• Booking and payment records — 6 years, as required for UK tax and accounting purposes.
• Newsletter email address — until you ask us to remove you.
• Server logs — kept briefly by our hosting provider, then automatically deleted.

This website does not use advertising cookies, and our visitor statistics (Vercel Analytics) work without cookies. The only cookie we set ourselves is an essential sign-in cookie for the site administrator. Stripe's checkout pages may set their own cookies when you make a payment, governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information.
• Ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our use of it.
• Receive the information you gave us in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we rely on.

To exercise any of these rights, reach us through the contact form— we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Our services are designed for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you are seeking support for a bereaved child or young person, please get in touch and we will point you to appropriate services.

If we change this policy, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be highlighted on the website.
